Schneider told Denberg that he should have been the one to have that conversation. "I feel like that is the first time he preyed on me," Denberg told Business Insider. "Nobody thinks it is their responsibility" to protect the people working at Nickelodeon, Denberg said. According to Denberg, Schneider would refuse to write her jokes for the segment until the last minute, forcing her to perform live without rehearsing. Denberg said she cheered up Bynes, then told Schneider that he couldn't change "the little girl's lines on the spot."

New York CNN —The good news is your child got into college and is preparing to enroll this fall. The bad news is that you’ve just learned the aid package your child’s school is offering is much smaller than you’d hoped. Over four years of college, students can take out a total of up to $27,000. “That’s cash-flow friendly while your child is in college,” Walker said. Also, Bogardus suggests checking to see if your state offers a tuition aid plan or subsidized loan rates for educational expenses.

When I asked new college graduates last month to tell me about their job searches, I got back a ton of heartache. For some, a sense that college was a waste of time and money. I'd often do the weekly grocery shopping at a 24-hour supermarket on Fridays at midnight after the kids and their father fell asleep. Even though we may have saved money shopping at Costco — and most Costco shoppers have kids — going there felt out of the question in those early days of parenthood. Barrett pins Trump down on his absolute immunity argumentsAs the second-least senior justice, Barrett sits at the far end of the Supreme Court’s mahogany bench. That was a notable break from earlier arguments Trump submitted that called for “absolute” immunity on a much wider scale of acts. A party turns to a private attorney, Barrett hypothesized, “who was willing to spread knowingly false claims of election fraud” to spearhead his challenges to an election. That appeared to be a reference to former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, identified by CNN as “co-conspirator 1” in Smith’s indictment. “This is where someone like Justice Barrett gets to pressure test an advocate’s points,” she said.

Beth Linker Is Turning Good Posture on Its Head
  + stars: | 2024-04-26 | by ( Matt Richtel | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
For decades, the idea of standing properly upright carried considerable political and social baggage. In the early 20th century, posture exams became mainstays in the military, the workplace and schools, thanks in part to the American Posture League, a group of physicians, educators and health officials that formed in 1914. In 1917, a study found that roughly 80 percent of Harvard’s freshman class had poor posture. But the actual science doesn’t support the conventional wisdom about proper posture, Beth Linker argues in her new book, “Slouch: Posture Panic in Modern America.” Dr. Linker, a historian and sociologist of science at the University of Pennsylvania, recently sat for an interview with The New York Times; the conversation has been condensed and edited for clarity. Your posture looks pretty good.

That's certainly true of her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," which arrived last Friday to mixed reviews. New Taylor Swift music is bound to spark widespread debate, but the conversation swelled when she surprise-released "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology," a deluxe edition with 15 extra songs. Indeed, most of these deluxe tracks succeed as self-contained stories, recalling the mythic peaks of "Folklore" and "Evermore." Then again, more songs equals more streams, and "The Tortured Poets Department" is on target to become one of the most-played albums of the streaming era. When Prelogar argues before the Supreme Court, she is arguing in front of several alumni of the US Office of the Solicitor General. She also clerked for her current boss, Attorney General Merrick Garland, when he was a DC Circuit judge, before her Supreme Court clerkships. She went on to litigate Supreme Court cases for private firms and worked on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. The album follows Swift's breakup with British actor Joe Alwyn, her longtime muse and collaborator. Alwyn likely earned millions from the six songs he cowrote with Swift. It's the first set of new music since Swift's breakup with British actor Joe Alwyn was confirmed in April 2023. Final Grade: 8.4/10"The Tortured Poets Department" includes 16 standard-edition tracks. We don't listen to Swift's music because it necessarily is true. Corny as some moments may be, this is a marvelously deranged pop album. On "Poets," Swift doesn't exactly break with her well-established, commercial-friendly conventions — but she does toy with her audience in interesting ways. Read preview"You look like Clara Bow in this light" is how Taylor Swift begins the closing track of the standard edition of her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," which was released on Friday. But beyond what she's been told by others, by naming the song "Clara Bow," Swift appears to be signaling an affinity with the original "It" girl whose career reached its apex almost a century ago. Ultimately, for Sisneros and Bell, Swift's immortalization of their great-grandmother in "Clara Bow" is a gift they can hand down to future generations. Tyler Starrett was on vacation with his family in Pigeon Forge, about 35 miles from Knoxville in eastern Tennessee, when they learned on Thursday that O.J. Simpson had died. They had heard that one of the key artifacts of the Simpson case happened to be on display nearby at the Alcatraz East Crime Museum: the 1993 white Ford Bronco that Simpson fled from the police in, just days after the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson, his former wife, and Ronald L. Goldman. “If the Bronco is here in Pigeon Forge, why don’t we go see it?” Starrett, 23, said.
